    The Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager for Coborn's Inc. works at the Coborn's Central Bakery in St. Cloud, MN. You'll act as our Food Safety and Quality Assurance Champion, ensuring that our employees are trained on food safety related topics and regulations and ensuring our company's compliance with FSMA, cGMPs and other state/federal regulations. Additionally, you'll train, supervise, and support other Food Safety & Quality Assurance team members. 


    To be successful in this position, you'll need to work quickly to understand the plant operations and the critical processing points for product safety, consistency and efficiency.


    As the Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager, you can expect to:

    • Roll up your sleeves and develop SOPs for food safety and quality systems
    • Provide technical support to the manufacturing facility in the areas of food safety and quality including new product development.
    • Notify and give guidance to line leads and management regarding out of spec production
    • Ensure appropriate communication of food safety/QA issues with Supervisors/Plant Management
    • Conduct mock recalls
    • Assist with complaint investigations
    • Assist in approving new suppliers
    • Oversee physical inspections of facilities
    • Perform routine testing activities
    • Empowered to hold product based on food safety or quality non-conformance.

    • Ensures compliance with FSMA, cGMPs and other state/federal regulations.
    • Provides training to the manufacturing team on cGMPs, SOPs and other food safety related areas.
    • Understands the plant operations and the critical processing points for product safety, consistency and efficiency.


    What we're looking for:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Requires Degree in Science related field (i.e. Food Science, Microbiology, Dietetics, etc.) or equivalent experience in quality assurance position related to food safety in a food plant.
    • Must meet the requirments for PCQI
    • Food Safety and/or HACCP certified.
    • Must have good oral and written communications.  Ability to work effectively with associates throughout the organization.
    • Efficient, self-starter with a positive attitude.
    • Able to perform basic math computations.
    • Able to operate computer including hand held computer. Working knowledge of software programs Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word required.
    • Able to work independent of direct supervision.
    • Physically able to safely ascend to heights, be able to bend, crawl and move safely and freely around machinery and building without assistance. Must have eyesight or corrected eyesight to safely work around and inspect equipment and prepare inspection notes and reports without assistance.
