    Coborn’s, Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Continuous Improvement Manager who is passionate about seeking out inefficiencies and driving improvements throughout the company. This isn’t a job where you’ll have a checklist of things to do, but a job where you will observe processes, discover the hidden wastes, and either correct on site or offer recommendations for continuous improvement.     Responsibilities

    The Continuous Improvement Manager will work with leadership and operations teams to implement and sustain continuous improvement programs based upon lean principles that support goals and targets to drive business performance. They will work closely with technical resources to help drive efficiencies and develop continuous improvement opportunities, best practices and standard operating procedures. This individual must be driven and focused on teaching and modeling tools and concepts, root cause analysis’, problem solving, creating action plans to prevent recurrence, and follow-up. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining work standards to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.

     

    • Lead new projects which utilize Lean Kaizen principles and techniques to proactively identify and implement process improvement opportunities throughout the company. Responsibilities within the scope of the project and activities include, but are not limited to, developing statement of work, identification of project scope and project teams, timeline adherence, setting up meetings, testing, piloting, and implementation. Validate effectiveness of process modifications quantitatively. Capture effective changes within the labor model.
    • Partner with Leadership, Subject Matter Experts and vendor partners to develop, maintain, sustain, audit, train and improve the Continuous Improvement operating systems, which include, but not limited to: ELM (Enterprise Labor Model), Scheduling, Sales and Labor Planning, ESM (Enterprise Standards Management) and Forecasting platforms to support company strategies and promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
    • Lead a non-static team of high functioning temporary employees assigned to specific projects. Keep them focused on the project, make sure they have necessary supplies and accommodations, and help them be successful.
    • Drive 5S culture through kaizen, 5S audits, cost outs, reporting, education and learning.
    • Develop, read and analyze reports utilizing SQL queries and OLAP based reporting tools to identify opportunities and prioritize the development and implementation of solutions based on findings.
    • Prepare appropriate content and presentations for leadership meetings. Participate in and follow up on appropriate action items.
    • Provide customer support by responding timely to all related questions and concerns.
    • Share best practices and build relationships to engage and educate employees at all levels of the organization.
    • Perform other duties within the Workforce Management/Continuous Improvement Department or other areas as assigned.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
    • Observe and enforce all company policies, rules, and safety practices.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate for the Continuous Improvement Manager position:

    • is an enthusiastic and confident people person with excellent communication and relationship building skills;
    • has experience developing strong teams of employees, with the ability to lead, motivate, and hold accountable as necessary;
    • understands the demands of employees, who work in retail – has either walked in their shoes or made an effort to get to know the daily demands and dynamics of their role;
    • has strong systematic, technical, and analytical skills – can drive continuous improvement throughout the organization;
    • has advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Access), is a Microsoft Excel power user, and has working knowledge of SQL queries and OLAP based reporting tools;
    • is self-motivated and possesses excellent organization, planning, project management and time management skills, and is able to multi-task across multiple projects with varying deadlines.

     

    Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field preferred and a minimum of three to five years related experience. Lean Six Sigma certification and/or other process improvement methodology experience preferred. Must possess a current state driver’s license and valid insurance with the ability to travel to business locations 60% of the time (30% overnight).
