The primary focus of this position is to provide operational support to the Category Manager in selecting Bakery products, negotiating procurement deals with Vendors and performing analytics (sales, movement, promotional activity and marketing statistics). They will work closely with Category Development team on product placement and monitoring of sales and product profitability.


  • Participate in weekly advertising meetings and quarterly marketing planning meetings. Partner with the finance team to build and develop effective reports and processes to ensure pre and post promotional activity can be measured as to achieve budgetary results.
  • Participate and provide support to the Category Manager in coordinating periodic product performance reviews to ensure product movement and profitability is maintained in all categories.
  • Work with Category Development team to ensure products are correctly represented in layouts and plan-o-grams, as to maximize movement and sales of all products, within the departments.
  • Partner with the Category Manager in creating weekly merchandising notes and merchandising directives.
  • Assist the Category Manager in managing and maintaining correct pricing strategies. Create and analyze monthly, weekly and daily 'dash board' metrics, in partnership with the finance team, that represent category growth and profitability by department.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of effective communication to Operations staff and Store Management Teams on all departmental goals and objectives.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance, instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Demonstrate good judgment and decision making skills. Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and email systems, with intermediate proficiency with Excel. Working knowledge of pricing systems and category analyzer systems. Possess a current state driver’s license and valid insurance with the ability to travel to business locations as needed.




Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possess a current state driver’s license and valid insurance with the ability to travel to business locations as needed.
