Coborn's is looking for a motivated Senior Business Unit Accounting Partner whose primary focus is to plan, implement, manage, and control financial activities for the assigned banner/business line. The Senior Business Unit Accounting Partner is responsible for all accounting, business support and analysis for area of responsibility.
The Senior Business Unit Accounting Partner will be heavily involved in the month end close process, financial statement preparation and inventory calculations. Additional involvement includes planning/budgeting and P&L analysis. This position reports to the Coborn’s Inc. Accounting Manager.
A day in the life of the Senior Business Unit Accounting Partner may include any combination of the below duties (and more!):
As an individual contributor, the Senior Business Unit Accounting Partner will participate in processes of planning, budgeting, and reporting as well as special projects and various company initiatives. They will prepare journal entries, conduct account reconciliations and act as a collaborative business partner between the stores and the support center accounting department. The Senior Business Unit Accounting Partner will be responsible for providing accurate and timely analysis of financial results to various levels of the leadership team at the support center and at the retail stores; this will include a comparison of actual financial results against projected and prior year results. They will effectively work with store management, district/region management, and senior leadership to identify opportunities affecting the financial results, improve processes and collaborate with store leadership to get back on track. Responsibilities also include assessing accounting risk for the business unit and providing appropriate feedback while helping to drive consistent accounting policies and efficient practices throughout the organization.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and a minimum of five years related experience, with ideally two (2) years at a Senior Accountant level. Strong knowledge of US GAAP required. Extensive knowledge of accounting processes and internal controls required, preferably with experience in retail. Management experience helpful, but not required.
